I’m thrilled to share the exciting developments we’ve achieved at Cheery Lynn as we wrap up the year! December was a month filled with significant milestones and accomplishments, making it truly remarkable. We kicked off the month with the installation of stem walls, plumbing, and electrical rough-ins. As the plumbing was expertly boxed and wrapped, and the electrical boxes were securely set, we eagerly moved on to one of my personal favorite moments – the concrete pour for the floor! The day always begins early for our dedicated team, starting as soon as the sun rises. When we see the massive crane rolling in, we know it’s GO TIME!

The teamwork during the monolithic pour was truly impressive. This method, distinct from our standard concrete pour, allows us to streamline the process by only requiring exterior stem walls. This not only saves on lumber and labor but also involves careful consideration of climate and soil conditions. Our structural engineer made the decision to go with the monolithic approach for this project, ensuring an efficient and well-suited construction process.

Benefits of a Monolithic Concrete Slab:

  • Energy-efficient: Monolithic slabs require less energy to heat and cool your home than a stemwall or post-and-pad foundation because there is no open space underneath the foundation and home.
  • Strong and durable: Monolithic slabs provide a strong and durable foundation.
  • Low maintenance: Monolithic slabs are low maintenance, particularly when compared to stemwall foundations and/or post-and-pad foundations.
  • Fast construction: The construction of monolithic foundation and slab is fast as compared to other foundation construction methods because in monolithic construction all the concrete is to be poured at the same time for foundation.
  • Efficiency: Monolithic slabs are efficient in terms of time and money in construction industry.
  • Required strength achieved: Monolithic slabs achieve the required strength.
  • Save money: Monolithic slabs save money.

Framing commenced shortly after a thorough walkthrough with me, the General Contractor, and the framers, ensuring any changes from the plans were meticulously chalked out. Our mantra remains: talk twice, measure again… and again, and frame it once! The skilled framing crew of nine had all exterior walls up and even secured the garage sheathing in less than two days!

Our pool design has undergone tweaking and careful planning, with permits already submitted to the City. As the interior walls take form, our cabinet maker and designer will take preliminary measurements to align with our desired layout and design.
