Finishing out a GREAT 2022…

We finished out our year at the “Mermaid House” with some amazing updates! Our cabinets have arrived, and now we feel like kids waiting to open Christmas gifts! We cannot wait to see them installed – they are going to look gorgeous! The interior of the home is shaping up to be a real knock-out. Our tile team has been hard at work finishing up the bathrooms and laundry. The tiling process really is an art, so we like them to take their time to ensure a beautiful and quality result. A good tile setter is truly a must-have on your team. In the dining area, we are in love with the “fluting” design element that has been added to create a feature wall! Hardwood flooring is in-progress and we think it transforms this house into a “home”. Check out the warm brown tones – don’t you just LOVE them? We think they’re just perfect, and couldn’t be more happy with how the interior is coming together. We also have a lot of exciting news to share about our exterior work on this gem! Our crew has been prepping for exterior paint and things are looking great. Once the exterior is painted, the house will have a new, fresh look. In the back yard, we have had the pleasure of watching the crew finish out the year with one of the messiest jobs of all – THE POOL! This sweet addition will have “The Mermaid House” in a state suitable for mermaid swimming soon. I could watch this team all day – they work so hard and efficiently to make sure everything is just right. This really is a serious job – they have to get the pool slopes just right and prepped correctly.

We finished 2022 strong on 34th Street!  The kitchen really came to life with the installation of cabinets and the beautiful quartz countertops.  The range hood was also installed, along with the limestone backsplash, which gives a cohesive and organic feel to the home, syncing up with the impressive limestone fireplace.  We burned some midnight oil to ensure all cabinets were marked for hardware installation and lighting instructions were clear (Pro Tip: Don’t ever leave these items for the crew to decide!).  Interior paint was rolled out, and we rang in the New Year by topping it off with lighting and plumbing fixtures.  As a bonus, our cabinet hardware matched perfectly with the lighting, SCORE!  Our dining nook gained new interest with the installation of a fun tiered light.  Outside, the fence was removed and the yard was graded to prep for the driveway, patio pavers and landscaping.  The city also completed our new driveway approach and sidewalk so that it lines up with the new garage, since it was not the same as the old house.

We were able to close out 2022 with some exciting news for our new 38th Street project. We’ve been working toward this point since June and are overjoyed to share that OUR BUILDING PLANS WERE APPROVED! The trusses were ordered with our preliminary plans, knowing the plans would not change – which allowed us to get a jump-start so we are not waiting for them.  Our first bid came back without the pool house included… good catch on my builders’ part.  I anticipate that being a common theme with this project, we will have to watch that all supplies include those needed for the pool house too!  We were all so anxious to get started that the footings were dug Christmas Eve!  We were thrilled to learn our crew could get it done so we jumped at the chance!
